Weather project Rhossili filming
Well after several hours of delays on the M4 I made it to Rhossili to film more footage for the weather project for Local Journeys and the National Trust. Windy, wet and jolly cold. I found refuge in the coastal watch station with a couple of great chaps on watch and after a few moments by the fire set off again to start filming. I got some great time laps sequences and underwater shots.
Kilimanjaro Trek 2011
What a trip! I’ve climbed Kilimanjaro more times than I care to remember but wow what a trip. Rain, rain and more rain. What was really nice was the group I took up the mountain. Everyone of them stars. Derek our Kilimanjaro veteran put in a fine effort, even though he had an operation only a few weeks ago. Nader our breast surgeon working in South Wales was kept inline by Heidi who is also his nurse. (that is works with him not nurses him) How you do it mate I don’t know. Heidi was fantastic and was the life and soul of the trip. Then there was farther and son duo Richard and Ben. Mum had got to the summit last year on a UTC trip and pride was at stake. Eurwen was unwell early on and had to go backs early which was a real shame. hopefully she will make it back on another trip soon. Lowri and Helen, a couple of girls from the valleys, had lovely smiles and kept cheerful throughout the trip. This just leaves Lynsey. By now Lynsey will be living in a mud hut in Kenya as she spends the next year traveling the world doing charity work for projects. Go girl go.
Well my luggage has finally returned and Kilimanjaro seams a distant blur of laughs, wetness and triumph. I love Kilimanjaro and east Africa but I think it might be a while before the summit beckons again. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s photos.
Brean Down
Last weekend William and myself spent a fantastic day down at Brean filming. William is my 12 year old son and up until now he hasn’t had any desire to make films with his old man. This project has grown from more than just a brief and creative collaboration project into a farther and son bonding time. He’s also pretty good and one of the time laps sequence’s he filmed will make it into the finished film. What more he want’s to come out again and learn more filming techniques. Feel free and have a look at the test footage. It’s not graded but more just rush’s at the moment. weather test.mov – YouTube

Our New Showreel
Our New Showreel Today Jason, Nicky and I have started to edit TechSec’s new showreel. We have all been very excited at the prospect of editing our companies talent. So early on a bank holiday Monday we are going through our media archive looking at the best content.
We started by choosing a fast paced track that doesn’t focus on vocals as the music should just heighten the feel of your visuals not over power them. It’s very tricky looking for shots that stands alone beautifully and can demonstrates all aspects of the company instead of supporting shots that only make sense with other shots. In a cinematographers showreel includes creative shots, the director uses segments of acting and mis en scene, the editors include great transitions and cuts, but we as a company have to show all of that in under two minutes.
The best showreels are short sweet and to the point, all whilst showing the best video content available.
Were finalising the edit so keep looking at this spot to see the final project.
